The Knife Painting Gets a Life

I like the finished painting quite a lot the way it was but I ran the photo through several different lighting filters to pull out different colors and effects.

This one brightened the colors up.

This kept it a bit pale and enhanced the lavender tones.

Here's the Blue

Here's the Yellow

 and Black and White

I'll Start with these images first and then move on to adobe photo shop to see how many other things that I can do with it.

The view from my wheelchair

As I lean back and put my feet up this is my view in the garden. There's no mess to clean up, no weeding to be done and no problems. I could stay like this forever.

Iris

Strawberries

As you can see the plants I started with this year were very small (daughter) plants from last years Strawberry plants.

There were both wild and cultivated plants crossed in that bed so there will be a variety of sizes and shapes of berries this year.

So far the berries have been a medium size and very delicious.

Add the berries in the open box were eaten by Wildlife so since only the covered ones were safe we'll be adding more covers next year.

Lilacs

This year we only managed to photograph one of the bushes this year. we have them on both sides of the front yard and some in the backyard but the wheelchair limits my ability to get to any of the for photographs. There seemed to be a lot of color all around, I just couldn't get close enough to investigate.

This Seasons Roses

Front flower bed. We transplanted some family roses here 3 years ago. They're finally filling in nicely. They used to grow wild in the woods on the farm.

These are an assortment of roses from 2 generations of my husbands family that we have on the other side of our yard.

I even painted a few watercolors of them. Nothing special, they just went out in the mail.

Knife Painting and the Evolution of a Painting

I found myself quite frustrated with that Iris painting and rubbing the whole thing out so I grabbed a more more canvases and my painting knives and began just stabbing and slashing bits of color at them until I relaxed and began to feel better.

I like the unexpected nature of the results and the uninhibited nature of the process because you can never tell where it will lead you.

I often get ideas for great paintings from an unusual color combination or composition of shapes.

That small canvas and it's combination of greens began to suggest a garden so I'm going with that idea and attempting to do a painting of my front flower bed.

Once I'd decided to paint my garden on that green canvas the work went quickly.

Each day I give the other Canvases another try hoping to find a color combination that I like.
