The Latest Collages

I just used this one as an excuse to practice painting leaves in goache.

This one was made from magazines and garden catalogs.

This one is just fun with scraps of scraps and of course was the most enjoyable to work on. i actually giggled from time to time as I worked. You should try it sometime. It's really a stress reliever.

I love blue and white patterns on things so I had fun putting this one together from the catalogs in todays mail.

This rolling computer table is my work area for these which is why I need to work small. Various type of images are stored in the stacking boxes. Larger papers stand in that old table napkin holder.

This collage is made from magazine and catalog bits as well as the yellow pages. As some of you may or may not know I used to design, carve and paint Swedish wooden dala horses. This time I simply covered one of the old paper patterns with flowers.

Mapping The Future

I'll bet you expecting something important from the sound of that title. Surprise! No such thing. I was just looking for another way to blog about how much fun I'm  having with collage. Today's background paper just happened to be pieces of a map.

I hope you don't feel you've been mislead. You can plan your collage anyway that you want to. I'm just following the things that I have on hand for inspiration. They seem to form their own story as they sort out my messy house.

The second collage was my favorite. I call it "Staycation" because it is based on a local map which includes a backpack for day tripping, a compass to stay on track, a beverage for refreshment and some writing supplies to remind you to write to the people that you aren't able to be with right now.

There is no downside to this process and it may just lead me in a positive direction. Join me for the journey.

Meanwhie, Back at the Ranch...

I thought I'd let a bit too much color into this vintage themed collage so we ran it through the computer to get a bit more of a sepia tone which we liked a lot better. Did I stop here, read on and find out.

This little collage was just thrown together to make a friend laugh. After this photo I added boogly eyes and mustaches to the dogs and a sun inside the sunflower. It was a lot of fun for both of us.

This little watercolor was just a card I made for another friend.

I mostly made this robot collage to amuse myself, I've always loved robots and enjoyed playing with the idea here.

I kept changing the arms and things until I was happy with it. And then yes, I mailed it to a friend.

If this looks familiar there's a good reason. I just kept adding images on top of the other collage hoping that I would come up with a composition that I liked better. I can't decide between the two, what do you think?

The main difference between this painting and the last time you saw it and now is that I overpainted the paper bits to make it look as if it was aged instead of being such a stark white. Which do you like best?

This mixed media piece also contains a puzzle. How many basketball players can you spot in the background? Where are they?

Let's have some fun with this.
