Bird house revisited
I added a few more bits of leaves, flowers and lace to this birdhouse and sent it to the curb for a little yard sale.

Finders Keepers
With no budget for the garden this year I'm looking to the overgrown bits of the yard when I want to go plant shopping. It helps clean up the overgrown areas and provides an assortment of plants and flowers to fill the new borders. I've even "found" a few things wandering in the lawn planted by wind, water and wildlife. Every year things get a bit better and I'm enjoying the changes both in the yard and in myself as I continue to work on it. I think it's what adds the extra dimension and passion to the drawings and paintings that I create from it. Don't you?

Pencil and Watercolors
I did the watercolors this morning. One was on an envelope and the other is on a note card so they make a nice set. I did another mixed floral but gave it away before I had a chance to scan or photograph it.
In the evening we went to the lake for the music and farmers market. This week I brought my pencils along. I haven't quite decided whether I'm finished with this or not. I keep forgetting that blues don't scan well so I'm thinking I need to add more to intensify the water and the sky. I'll post any changes sometime in the next few days.

Back to the birdhouse
The weather was really nice this morning so I headed out to the front border of the garden to finish adding the yellow flowers to the birdhouse. My Hubby came out to join the birds and butterfly keeping me company out there. He brought coffee and homemade pecan pie so that made everything even better.
You really need to catch those moments when you can because it's raining and threatening to storm out there now (just a few hours later). I hope you took a few moments to savor the good things in your day as well.

Fun with Fabric Paints: The shirt off my back
There were a number of bottles of old fabric paints that needed to be checked over and sorted out so this simple design of lines and dots worked well to get the job done. I did a watercolor landscape as well today but gave it to a friend before I got a chance to photograph or scan it. I'll be painting something again soon and will make sure I post the next one.

As I was working in the garden I shot these photos with an eye to composition for subjects of watercolor notecards this week. I'll post the results as soon as I finish any of them.

The Birds are loving it too
All of the older houses have tenants and we're taking time to notice which shapes an sizes of houses are more popular. This is the first year we started building nest boxes so we haven't mounted or used any of them yet. It will be interesting to see how they work out. The one with the cammo paint job is supposed to be for chickadees as are the other 7 Doug built. We've sold a couple and later this summer I'll choose one of the remaining ones to add to our collection here.

Easy Pickin's
All the yellow flowers inspired today's bird feeder. Later today I'll try drawing some of the flowers and tomorrow I'll tackle them in watercolor so grab your art supplies and follow along.

Holiday Workshop
Some interesting people went by as we painted birdhouses and had a few of the finished ones out for sale during the parade. Guest artist Becca brought a sense of fun and some great ideas for designs based on the shimmer of fireworks and bright stars. Yes, "a good time was had by all". I can't wait to do it all again!!!

A long day for the birds...and a little cash
I've got them for sale in all different price ranges and am really enjoying "playing" with painting different designs on them. All that remains is to see which (if any) of them sell...
Marketing Plan
Today's marketing plan is simply to stick a big price tag on our first nest box/birdhouse and hope it sells for at least enough to buy a few more things to improve these flower beds and provide inspiration for future paintings. Wish me luck!!!
