Before and After

Back in the Garden, a bit of fresh paint

Although there's still quite a bit of snow on the ground we're getting warmer temperatures and nicer weather so I can't resist popping out in the yard from time to time to get started on a few small projects.
Today I started by repainting one of the old butterfly houses in the front yard. The peak of the roof has split on this one and rather than replace it we're recycling an old car license plate as a new roof. I love the look and it makes people laugh so I thought it was a great solution to the problem.
What do you think?

Last bits of Color in the Garden

There are all kinds of plants in this tangled mess but I though the color was kind of nice anyway so I thought I'd shoot a picture before I start cleaning it up and sorting it out for the winter.

The woodpecker continues to work on that blue house but I couldn't catch it with the camera today.

Butterfly House, Birdhouses and yesterdays watercolors

I repainted the roof to the butterfly house, (Minnesota weather isn't kind to things like this and it's been out there for years.)

Yes, this arbor is a pretty busy place and I like to think that it brightens up the neighborhood a bit.

I was pretty surprised to see how well the new flowers I painted on it matched up when we put it back together.

I forgot to add this photo to yesterdays post. I had wet and salted watercolors EVERYWHERE !

Today's Garden and Bird Watching Photos

This time we remembered to bring the camera with us...

It kind of amuses me to see the size of the hosta next to the bird bath. Several birds landed here while we had coffee but we never managed to catch them in the photo.

These are the only sunflowers in my garden this year so I can't wait for them to open so I can finish the painting that I started of them last season.

This one looks like it's got something to say!

I guess they were relaxing a bit too, they're getting pretty used to us...

I was trying to get a better shot of the sunflowers but thought you'd enjoy seeing the geraniums I repotted yesterday.
