Today's garden photos

That wicker chair wasn't repairable so I'm using it as a trellis for some of the climbing roses here. it should be really pretty next year with pink roses wrapped all around it and shooting up through it in places. It will be a solid support for the plants too.

  

Not too many flowers left these days but I thought this was the best one out there.

This is much nicer when I put all of the cushions out but I think it's great anytime. We call it "the summer living room"

Yes, there are a few of the mini sunflowers left so there's still time to do a bit of drawing and painting with them.

The hot weather continues

With temps around 100 there isn't much of the day that's cool enough for working in the garden. My current plan is getting up early and getting as much weeding and watering done as I can in the cool of the day.
I worry about everyone that has to be out in the weather or doesn't have easy access to water. I have a rain barrel and that helps but what about the places that aren't getting rain?
I'm hoping there's more research on safely transporting water from flooded areas, cleaning and treating it so that it can help the areas that need it.
Most problems in the world seem to come down to people or things that just happen to be in the wrong place.
I spend each day moving things around and sorting things out. Most people do, they just don't think about it that way.

The rain set in

We got enough rain on Monday to get the rain barrel (which we'd just set up for the season) 3/4 full so I was back working indoors (painting that box and the horse I'd sanded the day before).
Yesterday I did some new bows for the floral arrangements over at the senior center and was just getting ready to join the painting group when my sister came in to town and I headed home to visit with her.
The weather was overcast but we had coffee in the garden and watched the birds and the squirrels for a while anyway.
I often joke that I do all of my entertaining outdoors because it's cleaner than my house...at least I THINK I'm joking ;-)

Back in the yard

Took some time away from working on the garden as I had the opportunity to place some paintings with a local restaurant. It was nice to be able to work outdoors as I cleaned and got things ready to go, you might say I was getting a little pruning done on the size of the art collection instead of the plants. Either way I'm making things ready for new growth because
I may feel more like painting more pictures with some of the old ones out of the way...and I've been thinking about painting favorite bits of my garden. It might get interesting...at least I hope so.
