Sunny and 72 degrees in the garden

It was nice to see the end of the snow and enjoy some warm weather for a change. Here's the outdoor dining room, we spend a lot of the day here and really enjoy it.

The sun was nice too...

There are some birds in the blue birdhouse on the front of the arbor. It was fun to watch  them flying back and forth with bits of nesting material but they move so quickly that I'm not sure what kind of birds they are.

This is my outdoor living room.

The tulips are still popping up in the roses. I've been trying to move them for years but there are always a few that come up here anyway.

A bright, sunny morning

I'm always happier on a sunny day and find it often influences the sort of projects I choose to work on. This morning I find myself painting sunflowers on one of the wooden horses I've been carving and sanding. I'm looking forward to planting some real sunflowers soon but until then, this will have to do.

I'm also sorting and rearranging my work space so that I'll have room for company in the studio from time to time so that we can film a few projects.

Birds and Sunshine

A bit more organized at the worktable

Since I started yesterday I finished a hat and a new dala horse so it's cleared a few things off the table. of course I'm carving and painting more horses there now so that may or may not be considered progress. I seldom clear space at the table without starting another project on it.

It's a bright sunny day so I'm going to get back to working on that sunflower painting while there's bright, clear, natural light to work with.

This is my starting point today. The biggest issues will be resolving the background and adding the pattern to the vase. Those of you that are regular readers here will not be surprised that it will be something in blue and white. There are some swedish inspired ideas that i'd like to try this time just to see how they'd work out and maybe to combine them with the folk art of other countries.

Lazy Cat

Sometimes contentment is pretty basic. I'm like a big, lazy cat. All it takes is a bright ball of yarn and a sunny window to make me want to curl up and enjoy the afternoon. I may actually finish one of these afghans...or take a nap. Either way it's been a pleasant morning and I'm wishing you happiness today too.
