Back to the recycle bag

After sticking the pieces together there were a few scraps left so I used those to make some pockets that will be added to the bag later. I cut and sewed a lining for the bag but forgot to shoot pictures of that.

I'm using the odd spacing between the patches as an opportunity to teach myself new embroidery stitches and use up bits of my button collection.

 I plan a bunch of flower petals around this in the red to unify the design and I'm headed back to the worktable to do those now.

I just finished another patchwork bag!

 I like the first side a lot better but was too tired of cutting and piecing to do the same on the back (as well as being out of most of the other fabrics)

I'm using this one for a set of art books,workbooks and sketchbooks that I've been working with.

I like this view of the bag best and as you can see it's really big and strong so it should handle the weight of the books fine. The nice thing about this photo is that it shows you the boxes that I wrote about earlier.

Scraptastic!

We've finally had some hot weather so during the part of the day we're in with the air conditioning I've pulled out all of my fabric to see what I can or should do with it before packing it up and moving on to other projects. Yes the patchwork bag was thrown together for utility rather than beauty but it's big and strong and will work perfectly for some things I want to give to a friend. Having something to carry it all in will make things nice for both of us since I plan to give her the bag as well.

In the cooler parts of the day you'll still find us out in the garden. I wish you could see all the splashing this robin was doing, there's a lot to love about a garden...and in it as well.
