Red Dala Workshop

Yes, I've rounded up all of my Red Dala Horse Designs and am teaching workshops again. At some point I want to put together a "how to" book and video on the subject but I'm so busy doing everything else now that there just hasn't been time.

Watercolor painting the outgoing mail

I guess I should have scanned this envelope with something dark behind it so that you could see the edges more clearly. I'm showing the whole envelope this time so that you can see how I try to paint something that will go with the postage stamp.

Sunny and warmer by tea time

Scrap paper projects

Yes, all of these are from arranging scraps of paper on just one page and then taking it to the computer to see what else I could do with it. If I come up with any I really like I may use them on greeting cards.
As you can see I didn't get very far in cleaning out the scrap basket but I had quite a bit of fun on the way.

Envelope corners

I love to decorate my letters and often draw or paint a little something on the envelope to match the stamps or address labels I've got to make things more fun.

This sunflower  didn't match anything. I just like to grow, draw and paint them whenever I get a chance to...in just about any medium and on any surface that comes my way. I keep looking out the window at the snow and dreaming of the day I can get out and plant more sunflowers.

Even more snow!

Waiting for the garden

Well, here we are- the middle of April. It's still snowing as the seeds I've ordered continue to arrive.

I hope things warm up and thaw out before the strawberry plants get here. I watch the mail and worry...

It's 33 degrees and the forecast is for it to continue through the night.

Playing with color

Here's where I started:

1. I got the card as a gift (part of a set of note cards)
2. I looked at the card and attempted to paint the design
3. I scanned the finished butterfly into the computer
4. I made as many different color variations as I could with the computer to try in the future when creating my own patterns.

Projects, ideas and patterns

I printed photos of some of my butterflies and have taken them to my scrap paper to make lots of fun stationery and cards and have already been asked to paint some more butterfly garden stakes so that will bring even more design ideas.

I'm just finishing the granny square afghan that I'm crocheting for the Veterans home and deciding what I'll be crocheting for people next.

There are more Dala horses in progress because I'll be teaching a class on painting them next week.

As if these were not enough projects for a day I also spent quite a while this morning decorating letters with watercolors and collage from clippings out of the "junk mail" everything turns into something useful here...even me!
The point of this letter paper is that my friends and I are trying to decide how we can have my artwork on shirts like this. What companies do it? Should I look for work as a fabric or clothing designer? I love letters! We write and write and try to solve all the worlds problems and sometimes just our own. We continue to dream of the day when we open a catalog and there I am.
