Holiday for the worktable

 I'm sure this doesn't look like much to most people but the candle ring is from my sister in law,the fabric was from my Mom and the imari pattern china is from the very first set of dishes I ever picked out back in the 1970's. Of course guys don't generally like to use tiny teacups so the mug is from our product line at Zazzle. The image on it is from a Christmas stocking I made about 20 years ago. These are the things that make it special to us.

I was surprised to discover that almost all of the thread I have left around here is heavy hand quilting thread so the sewing machine wasn't an option which of course explains why I was only able to hem the table topper in time for Christmas. In the background you can see that there's a LOT more of this fabric I can do things with for next year. I think it's time to ask Mom "what were you thinking?" and see if she'd still like to have any of the things she wanted to make. I'll do that today before I make any plans for the rest of it.

As you can see, most of my projects didn't go very far but it helped to make that list and set some priorities for them so I'll tackle the most important ones first when I get back to work

A bit of everything

I picked up some downed branches from a recent storm and cut back a bit of brush but that's about all I got done in the garden today but I got so busy around the house (patching and priming walls in the bathroom, doing laundry and a bit of other cleaning) that I STILL haven't gotten back to reworking that Iris drawing. I'm hoping to get back to that tonight or tomorrow.
I had to stop and laugh that just after we finished watching a movie that started with a horse drawn carriage, a white one with a wedding here in town went past our house several times as it gave everyone in the party a ride. I think that was the best part of my day.

Birch Trees and Falling leaves

 This is probably not an angle that most people would photograph them from but I love looking up into the trees, don't you?

 This is where I like to sit in the yard these days and it may explain the look and angle of the photos...I guess you could say that I'm "sitting down on the job."

Yes, I couldn't resist bringing out one of my crochet projects as well. This is going to be a mat to put on the table under a hot casserole dish. It's kind of funny that it more or less blends in to the rest of the yard.

Treasure Hunt

My yard and garden are a weedy mess just now but I manged to gather these and plan a series of drawings and paintings based on them. The fresh flowers won't last long so I'd better get busy. I don't like to work from photos unless I absolutely have to.

At home with Flowers

This time of year I'm focused more on growing flowers than I am drawing them but I'm attempting to balance the two while I have the opportunity to draw and paint live flowers.
There was a rabbit and a few birds to keep me company in the yard today and temps in the 60's seemed to make everyone and everything happy.
